Workshop Experts

Two other industry members have joined our first edition of SEAPITCH (Southeast Asian Project Pitch) to conduct online workshops for the 8 selected projects. They are experts in film development and have played key roles in the international scene:

• Matthieu Darras from France
• Denis Vaslin from the Netherlands
 

Matthieu Darras from France

Matthieu Darras designs and leads film labs and talent support schemes that are active worldwide including the First Cut Lab, the Pop Up Film Residency, and the Full Circle Lab. Previously, he founded and directed the European Network of Young Cinema NISI MASA, wrote for film magazine “Positif” and was the artistic director of TorinoFilmLab. He advises the Doha Film Institute on several of its trainings.

Darras has been working for major film festivals in Europe: as a programmer for the Cannes Critics’ Week, as a consultant for the Venice Film Festival and as a delegate for the San Sebastian Film Festival. He also directed the Bratislava Film Festival.

Denis Vaslin

For Volya Films, Denis Vaslin produces feature films, creative documentaries and animation, mainly as international co-productions. Recent titles are “MRS F.” (Chris van der Vorm, world-premiered at the One World Film Festival and Movies that Matter Film Festival 2020), “The Mole Agent” (Maite Alberdi, world-premiered at the Sundance Film Festival 2020) and “A Land Imagined” (Yeo Siew Hua, world-premiered at the Locarno Film Festival 2018 International Competition where the film won Golden Leopard and winner of Golden Star from El Ghouna Film Festival.)

Volya Films is a member of the ACE, EAVE and Eurodoc networks, the European Film Academy and the NAPA.
